1. Play Psychological Game!

When crying, go to her and soothe her. When you comfort her she will feel sleepy again. Now, you have something different. When you put down your baby, jostle her a bit. Most parents feed the baby or let her suck the thumb so that she can go back to sleep again. But for your own sake, you need to break this correlation. Because this habit will always require you to be with your kid to go back to sleep again.

Alright, let’s talk about feeding. When the baby starts crying, feed her as usual as your comfort mechanism. Continue rocking and let her suck her thumb as usual. After you break the feeding association, do the same for rocking and sucking as well. First, teach her how to fall asleep without rocking. Before your baby is asleep, stop rocking totally.
Just hold her calmly and sit tight. Unless your baby protest, do not rock. But course, rock her again if she demands while putting her down the crib. Within more or less of 25 attempts, she will learn to sleep without rocking.
After a few months, your baby won’t be needing any feeding, sucking, or rocking to go back to sleep in the middle of the night.
3. Stop Holding Her
After you have got rid of feeding, rocking, and sucking – you need to stop holding her. This is the last step to teach your little one sleeping without keeping you nearby always. You are not rocking her anymore but still, you have to hold her for a while. Now, you want to get rid of that too.

After you put her down the crib, just touch her instead of holding her. Let her hold your finger only. Notice her reaction when you are not holding her but touching her. You have to follow this procedure until she accepts the new routine where there will be no holding or rocking.
At some point when your little one accepts the new routine, you should introduce giving her any toy instead of your finger. When she can sleep with her toy only, you have taught your baby to sleep without being held.
Your baby should be engaged during the entire day. Let her play and listen to music. Play with your baby. If there is a baby sitter for the baby, instruct the babysitter to play with her.
During the day, your baby may take nap several times which is pretty normal. Just make sure she does not take longer sleep. If you notice your little one is taking longer sleep during the day, wake her up. Why?
